Play Tute online
Tute in the browser, for nothing: open a table, send the code to whoever is playing, and let a bot take any chair nobody fills.
- 2 players
- Bots for empty seats
- Free
- Nothing to download
A free account opens the table. Friends you invite join without one.
How Tute is played here
The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.
- Forty cards, eight each. The order is ace, three, king, horse, jack, then seven down to two. Ace 11, three 10, king 4, horse 3, jack 2, and ten for the last trick — a hundred and thirty in a deal.
- While the stock lasts you may play anything, and both draw after each trick. Once it is gone you must follow suit, must beat the card if you can, and must trump if you cannot follow.
- King and horse of a suit, declared after winning a trick and before leading the next: 20, or 40 in trumps. The two cards stay in your hand — so everybody now knows two cards you are holding. Holding the seven of trumps you may swap it for the turned card.
- All four kings, or all four horses, wins the deal outright whatever the score. That is where the game gets its name, and why nobody throws a king away.
How it works
- Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
- Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
- Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.
How multiplayer Tute works
Playing Tute online with other people, step by step: the code, the seats, the table rules, and what happens when somebody drops out.
Inviting a friend
The host opens the table, which needs a free account, and shares its six-character code or the link from "Copy link". On a phone "Challenge a friend" stands beside it, and hands that invitation straight to Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat or whatever else you chat in. Whoever follows it picks a name and sits down as a guest; they need no account.
Tute here is for two. The host chooses the length of the match — first to three, five or seven deals — and presses "Start the game" when both are seated.
Your lead
On your lead the table offers whatever you may do first: "Swap the seven of trumps" while there is a stock, a button for each cante you may declare, and a button to declare a tute if you hold one. Then you play your card.
Every cante is announced to both players as it is declared, with what it was worth. Points from cantes go on the table straight away.
The two halves
While the stock lasts, the table says so and shows how many cards are left: play anything you like. Both players draw after each trick, the winner first.
When the stock is gone, the table shows the strict rules and only lets you play the cards they allow: follow suit, beat it if you can, trump if you cannot. Nobody has to know the rule by heart.
After each deal
The table shows what the deal came to: each player's points and cantes, and who took it — or the tute that ended it. The deal is one point in the match.
The next deal starts once both of you have pressed "Ready for the next hand", and the deal passes to the other player.
If somebody drops out
A player whose connection drops is shown as away and waited for twenty-five seconds. After that a bot plays their cards until they return, and opening the table again gives them their seat back. A player who presses Leave mid-game is replaced by a bot for the rest of it.
A table with no activity for six hours is cleared away.
Questions about playing Tute online
- How many can play Tute online here?
- 2 at one table. A bot can take any seat nobody fills, so a game never has to wait for somebody to turn up.
- Can I play Tute against the computer?
- Yes. Give any empty seat a bot and it plays like anyone else at the table, seeing only its own cards.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Every table here is free, there are no ads, and nothing about you is sold or handed on.
- Do I need an account?
- Only to open a table. Joining one never needs an account — anyone you send the code to sits down as a guest.
- Does Tute work on a phone?
- Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and there is nothing to install.
