Play Hokm online
Hokm in the browser, for nothing: open a table, send the code to whoever is playing, and let a bot take any chair nobody fills.
- 4 players
- Bots for empty seats
- Free
- Nothing to download
A free account opens the table. Friends you invite join without one.
How Hokm is played here
The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.
- Four players, partners sitting opposite. Thirteen cards each.
- Cards are turned face up until somebody gets an ace. That player is the hakem: they see five cards, name the trump suit, and lead.
- The first side to seven tricks takes the hand at once. The rest of the cards are never played.
- A hakem whose side wins stays hakem. Lose, and the position passes to the opponent on their right.
How it works
- Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
- Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
- Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.
How multiplayer Hokm works
Playing Hokm online with other people, step by step: the code, the seats, the table rules, and what happens when somebody drops out.
Inviting the table
The host opens the table, which needs a free account, and shares its six-character code or the link from "Copy link". On a phone "Challenge a friend" stands beside it, and hands that invitation straight to Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat or whatever else you chat in. Everyone who follows it picks a name and sits down as a guest; nobody else needs an account.
Hokm here is for exactly four players. Everybody should be in the lobby before the first hand, because a game in progress cannot be joined. If the table is short, the host can press "Add an opponent" to seat a bot.
Partners and the table rules
The order you sit down in decides the partnerships: first and third against second and fourth, partners opposite each other.
The host chooses whether the game goes to 5 or 7 points, and whether a kot — seven tricks to none — counts double. Everyone sees the choice.
Finding the hakem
On the first hand, cards are turned face up one at a time, starting to the dealer's left, until someone gets an ace. The table shows them as they fall. That player is the hakem: they get five cards and a "Name the trump suit" choice, and the other three wait.
Once the suit is named, everyone gets eight more cards and the hakem leads.
The play and the score
The table only lets you play legal cards: follow suit if you can, anything if you cannot. It counts each side's tricks towards seven, and the hand ends the moment one side gets there.
After each hand the table shows the tricks, the point or the kot, and whether the hakem stays or the role passes to their right. The next hand starts once everyone has pressed "Ready for the next hand".
If somebody drops out
A player whose connection drops is shown as away and waited for twenty-five seconds. After that a bot plays their cards until they return, and opening the table again gives them their seat back. A player who presses Leave mid-game is replaced by a bot for the rest of it.
If the host leaves, hosting passes to whoever has been sitting longest. A table with no activity for six hours is cleared away.
Questions about playing Hokm online
- How many can play Hokm online here?
- 4 at one table. A bot can take any seat nobody fills, so a game never has to wait for somebody to turn up.
- Can I play Hokm against the computer?
- Yes. Give any empty seat a bot and it plays like anyone else at the table, seeing only its own cards.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Every table here is free, there are no ads, and nothing about you is sold or handed on.
- Do I need an account?
- Only to open a table. Joining one never needs an account — anyone you send the code to sits down as a guest.
- Does Hokm work on a phone?
- Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and there is nothing to install.
