Play Scopa online
Scopa in the browser, for nothing: open a table, send the code to whoever is playing, and let a bot take any chair nobody fills.
- 2-4 players
- Bots for empty seats
- Free
- Nothing to download
A free account opens the table. Friends you invite join without one.
How Scopa is played here
The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.
- Two to four players. At four you play in partnerships, sitting opposite.
- Play a card to take the card of the same number, or the cards that add up to it. If it matches a single card, you must take that card.
- Clear the table and it is a scopa — a point on its own, straight away.
- Four points a deal: most cards, most coins, the seven of coins and the primiera. All three of the counted ones can be tied, and then nobody scores them.
How it works
- Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
- Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
- Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.
How multiplayer Scopa works
Playing Scopa online with other people, step by step: the code, the seats, the table rules, and what happens when somebody drops out.
Inviting the table
The host opens the table, which needs a free account, and shares its six-character code or the link from "Copy link". On a phone "Challenge a friend" stands beside it, and hands that invitation straight to Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat or whatever else you chat in. Everyone who follows it picks a name and sits down as a guest; nobody else needs an account.
Scopa here is for two to four players. Everybody should be in the lobby before the first deal, because a game in progress cannot be joined. If the table is short, the host can press "Add an opponent" to seat a bot.
Two, three or four players
Four cards are turned up on the table and everyone gets three. When the hands are empty, three more are dealt, and nothing more is added to the table. With two players that is six rounds of three before the pack runs out, with three players four rounds, and with four players three.
At two and three everyone plays for themselves. At four you play in partnerships, first and third to sit down against second and fourth, and partners share one pile. The host chooses a game to 11 or to 21 points, and everyone sees the choice.
Your turn
Tap a card in your hand and the table shows what it can take: everything it cannot reach is dimmed, and each possible capture is offered underneath as a "Take" button. If the card matches a single card on the table, that is the only capture offered — the rules do not allow the combination. If it takes nothing, the only choice is "Leave it on the table".
The site does the arithmetic, so nobody waits while a new player adds up a table of five cards. Everybody can see how many cards each side has taken, how many scopas each has, and how many cards are still to come.
After each deal
The table shows what the deal paid: who had most cards, most coins, the seven of coins and the primiera, with the totals, and everyone's scopas. A point that was tied goes to nobody, and the scoresheet says so.
The next deal starts once everyone has pressed "Ready for the next hand", and the deal passes to the left. If two sides reach the target level, another deal is played.
If somebody drops out
A player whose connection drops is shown as away and waited for twenty-five seconds. After that a bot plays their cards until they return, and opening the table again gives them their seat back. A player who presses Leave mid-game is replaced by a bot for the rest of it.
If the host leaves, hosting passes to whoever has been sitting longest. A table with no activity for six hours is cleared away.
Questions about playing Scopa online
- How many can play Scopa online here?
- 2 to 4 at one table. A bot can take any seat nobody fills, so a game never has to wait for somebody to turn up.
- Can I play Scopa against the computer?
- Yes. Give any empty seat a bot and it plays like anyone else at the table, seeing only its own cards.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Every table here is free, there are no ads, and nothing about you is sold or handed on.
- Do I need an account?
- Only to open a table. Joining one never needs an account — anyone you send the code to sits down as a guest.
- Does Scopa work on a phone?
- Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and there is nothing to install.
