How Rummy 500 is played here

The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.

  • Seven cards each, or thirteen with two players, from two packs once there are more than four of you. Aces count 15, court cards 10, and number cards their face value.
  • The pile is spread face up and every card in it is in play: take any one of them, provided you take everything above it too and use the card you were after straight away.
  • You score what you have laid down and lose what you are caught holding — so a hand can leave you below where you started, and laying a card onto somebody else's meld scores for you.

How it works

  1. Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
  2. Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
  3. Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.

How multiplayer Rummy 500 works

Playing Rummy 500 online with other people, step by step: the code, the seats, the table rules, and what happens when somebody drops out.

Inviting the table

The host opens the table, which needs a free account, and shares its six-character code or the link from "Copy link". On a phone "Challenge a friend" stands beside it, and hands that invitation straight to Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat or whatever else you chat in. Everyone who follows it picks a name and sits down as a guest; nobody else needs an account.

Rummy 500 here starts at two players. Everybody should be in the lobby before the first hand, because a game in progress cannot be joined. If the table is short, the host can press "Add an opponent" to seat a bot.

The table rules

The host chooses whether the game goes to 200 or 500 points, and everyone sees the choice.

With two players everyone gets thirteen cards; with more, seven. Aces count 15, court cards 10, number cards their face value.

Your turn

The pile is spread out on the table. "Draw from the stock", or tap a card in the pile: the table only offers cards you could use straight away, and shows how many you would take with it. If you take a card from under the top, the table asks you to lay it down before anything else.

Then lay down melds with "Lay it down", add cards to any meld on the table with "Add it", and end your turn with "Throw it away".

After each hand

When someone goes out, or the stock runs out, the table shows what each player had on the table and what they were caught holding, and what the hand was worth.

The next hand starts once everyone has pressed "Ready for the next hand". When someone reaches the target, the highest score wins.

If somebody drops out

A player whose connection drops is shown as away and waited for twenty-five seconds. After that a bot plays their cards until they return, and opening the table again gives them their seat back. A player who presses Leave mid-game is replaced by a bot for the rest of it.

If the host leaves, hosting passes to whoever has been sitting longest. A table with no activity for six hours is cleared away.
