How Mus is played here

The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.

  • Forty Spanish-suited cards, four each, in two pairs. Threes count as kings and twos as aces.
  • Before anything is bet, the table asks for mus. If all four agree, everybody throws cards away and draws again.
  • Four rounds, bet separately: grande, chica, pares and juego. The hands are shown only at the end.
  • At a table partners signal across it with agreed faces. That cannot happen here, and the rest of the game is the rest of the game.

How it works

  1. Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
  2. Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
  3. Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.

How multiplayer Mus works

Playing Mus online with other people, step by step: the code, the seats, the table rules, and what happens when somebody drops out.

Inviting the table

The host opens the table, which needs a free account, and shares its six-character code or the link from "Copy link". On a phone "Challenge a friend" stands beside it, and hands that invitation straight to Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat or whatever else you chat in. Everyone who follows it picks a name and sits down as a guest; nobody else needs an account.

Mus here is for exactly four players. Everybody should be in the lobby before the first hand, because a game in progress cannot be joined. If the table is short, the host can press "Add an opponent" to seat a bot.

Partners and the table rules

The order you sit down in decides the pairs: first and third against second and fourth, partners opposite each other.

The host chooses whether the game goes to 30 or 40 stones. The deck is the Spanish forty, with threes counting as kings and twos as aces.

The mus

Starting with the mano, each player presses "Mus" or "No mus". If all four ask for mus, everyone in turn chooses cards to throw away and draws the same number. One no mus ends it.

Your hand is always shown read four ways: your grande, your chica, your pairs and your juego or punto.

The betting

The four rounds are bet one after another. When it is your say you can pass ("Paso") or bet; when a bet is waiting for you, you can take it, walk away, or raise. Only players with pairs speak in pares, and only players with juego in juego.

Nothing is shown until all four rounds are bet. Then every hand is turned over, the rounds that were passed or accepted are decided on the cards, and the stones go on the score. There is no chat, and no signals.

If somebody drops out

A player whose connection drops is shown as away and waited for twenty-five seconds. After that a bot plays their cards until they return, and opening the table again gives them their seat back. A player who presses Leave mid-game is replaced by a bot for the rest of it.

If the host leaves, hosting passes to whoever has been sitting longest. A table with no activity for six hours is cleared away.
