How Chinchón is played here

The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.

  • Seven cards each from a 52-card deck with two jokers. Draw one, throw one, and nothing is laid down while the round is played.
  • Sets of three or four of a rank, runs of three or more in a suit, and the jokers are wild. When your leftovers come to 5 or less you may cut: put the hand down and everybody else counts what they hold.
  • Seven cards in a single run of one suit is a chinchón, and it wins the entire game outright — which is why a player who is losing badly keeps chasing it.
  • Court cards 10, aces 1, number cards their face value, a joker 25. Cut with nothing left over and you take 10 off your own score. Pass the target and you are out, though you may buy back in once at the worst score in play.

How it works

  1. Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
  2. Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
  3. Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.

How multiplayer Chinchón works

Playing Chinchón online with other people, step by step: the code, the seats, the table rules, and what happens when somebody drops out.

Inviting the table

The host opens the table, which needs a free account, and shares its six-character code or the link from "Copy link". On a phone "Challenge a friend" stands beside it, and hands that invitation straight to Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat or whatever else you chat in. Everyone who follows it picks a name and sits down as a guest; nobody else needs an account.

Chinchón here is for two to six players. Everybody should be in the lobby before the first round, because a game in progress cannot be joined. If the table is short, the host can press "Add an opponent" to seat a bot.

The table rules

The host chooses the limit that puts a player out: 50, 100 or 150. Everyone sees the choice.

The deck is 52 cards and two jokers. Seven cards each, and one turned up to start the discard pile.

Your turn

Draw from the stock or take the card on the pile. Then the table shows, beside every card in your hand, what you would be left with if you threw it — so you never have to add up your leftovers yourself.

If a card leaves you 5 or less, you can "Put the hand down" with it and cut. Otherwise "Just throw one". With seven in a suit the table tells you so.

After each round

Every hand is shown with its melds and what it cost. A player who has passed the limit is asked whether to buy back in at the worst score in play, or to leave the table.

The next round starts once everyone has pressed "Ready for the next hand". The last player under the limit wins.

If somebody drops out

A player whose connection drops is shown as away and waited for twenty-five seconds. After that a bot plays their cards until they return, and opening the table again gives them their seat back. A player who presses Leave mid-game is replaced by a bot for the rest of it.

If the host leaves, hosting passes to whoever has been sitting longest. A table with no activity for six hours is cleared away.

Questions about playing Chinchón online

How many can play Chinchón online here?
2 to 6 at one table. A bot can take any seat nobody fills, so a game never has to wait for somebody to turn up.
Can I play Chinchón against the computer?
Yes. Give any empty seat a bot and it plays like anyone else at the table, seeing only its own cards.
Does it cost anything?

Do I need an account?
Only to open a table. Joining one never needs an account — anyone you send the code to sits down as a guest.

Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and there is nothing to install.
